    Black History Month

    Black History Month (October)

In assembly this week, we explored Black History Month. We shared that this is a time to celebrate the contribution Black communities and individuals have made over the centuries in shaping the dynamic and diverse country we have today. It is an annual celebration on our school calendar. We believe that celebrating this diversity in our curriculum instils pupils with respect for others, whilst they learn about different cultures, religions and languages. It creates positive self-images and raises self-esteem as well as confidence. Celebrating diversity can incorporate family, community, national, international, cultural and religious celebrations and how these reflect the values and beliefs of a particular group. During the assembly, children confidently shared their thoughts and knowledge as well as asking insightful questions to deepen their understanding.
