    Improvement Priority 1

    To further develop teacher’s skills & increase confidence in the teaching of physical literacy ensuring the engagement of all pupils including SEND children.

    Key strand: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and School Sport.

    Success Criteria

    Teachers to display increased confidence and provide lessons that develop children’s physical literacy and demonstrate pupil progress.

    Lessons will enable the children to reach their own potential and increase levels of physical literacy, increase levels of participation and retention and allow them to transfer skills through multiple sports.

    Working alongside teachers, supporting them to help children make good progress and ensuring SEND children are engaged in lessons.

    Impact of PPG in 2014/15

    • Sports Apprentice employed – able to support teachers in PE lessons embedding physical literacy skills, working with groups of children to progress them and supporting SEND children.
    • Physical literacy scheme embedded – children engaged making good progress and confident to set own level of challenge.
    • 100% of teachers received PE CPD through curriculum support.
    • Increased teacher confidence, teachers have better knowledge of activity areas and are more confident to plan for PE.
    • 45% of children took part in Level 1 competition (Intra School).
    • 18% of children took part in Level 2 competition (inter school).
    • 50% of the children engaged in extra-curricular clubs.
    • 56% of SEND children took part in Level 1 competition (Intra School).
    • 12.50% of SEND children took part in Level 2 competition (inter school).
    • Introduction of new activity Pop Lacrosse – 2nd in Gedling District Tournament, 3rd at School Games - team nominated for school team of the year.
    • New LTP created to reflect the new national curriculum and a multi-ability approach incorporating the physical literacy scheme
